Brooklyn Invisalign, Brooklyn NY Braces, NYC Braces Orthodontist and more!
Man, if only Brooklyn Invisalign was around when I was a kid…
When I was 13, I was told I was going to need braces. But not just regular braces. I would first need to wear this thing called a Herbst appliance, to properly align my jaw. It consisted of 4 traditional braces brackets on my front 4 teeth, and in the back where braces rubber bands would go, there were metal rods that fit into one another.
The rods did the same thing as the rubber bands, but were stronger, supposedly. The worst part about them was that if you opened your mouth too wide, the rods would come apart. And when you closed your mouth, you’d get stabbed. And then, as if it wasn’t embarrassing enough, have to reach in your mouth and put them back together. All while crying from pain!
So after I got my shiny new appliance, (and the incredible pain wore off from it’s installation), my parents took me out for cheeseburgers since I hadn’t been able to eat anything that wasn’t in liquid form. At the restaurant I was starving. When our food finally came I couldn’t wait to bite into my huge cheeseburger. I held in my hands, closed my eyes, and opened my mouth for a huge bite. But my moment of ecstasy was ruined my getting stabbed in the roof of the mouth with two pointy metal rods.
That would be the first of many similar incidents.
So if you’re bummed out about wearing Brooklyn Invisalign, remember my tragic story of the Herbst appliance, and those torturous metal rods.
