NY Orthodontists’ Tips to Keep Your Teeth Healthy
NY orthodontists provide the following tips to keep your teeth healthy and your smile gorgeous:
- Brush regularly. Ideally, you want to brush your teeth after every meal. Simply buy a small stick of toothpaste and toothbrush and after breakfast and lunch at work, head to the office bathroom and brush your teeth. Barring this you must at least brush your teeth twice a day to maintain healthy teeth.
- Floss regularly. Best used in conjunction with brushing. Follow the advice as if you were brushing. With the growing popularity and portability of floss sticks it has become easier to floss almost anywhere and any time.
- Avoid smoking. If you can, do not smoke or chew tobacco. The smoke can stain and damage teeth and tobacco has been linked to oral cancer.
- Avoid soda. Soda contains acids like phosphoric and citric acid which are corrosive to teeth. Instead drink milk and water. Milk strengthens teeth and water will not harm your teeth.
- Take your time brushing and flossing your teeth. It does not have to take long; a couple of minutes and brushing and flossing your teeth will go a long way in making sure no bacteria can stay for long and cause tooth decay.
