After a visit to your NY orthodontist you might find that after getting new braces or getting your braces tightened brings you have a level of discomfort higher than you’re used to. Eating might become difficult and your diet might alter because of it. If you find yourself wincing at mealtimes after getting your Brooklyn NY braces try some of these tips to help you eat more of what you want.
First, cut up your food into bite sized pieces. You’ll have an easier time eating thick or hard foods if they’re smaller. You’ll also have less of a chance of breaking or bending your braces on these types of food.
Softer foods are definitely better for you the first few days. You’ll eat a whole lot of soups, mashed potatoes, yogurt, and other softened foods. Don’t worry, you won’t have to live on the liquid diet forever.
Speaking of liquids, try to lay off the soda and sugary drinks. These can actually eat away at not only the enamel of your teeth but the wires in your mouth as well.
Obviously you should avoid those things that your NY orthodontist tells you. These are things like popcorn, caramels, and other hard candy.
